From the Latin vellus:
PLAY IT SAFE BY CHOOSING VELVET
Being cautious, taking care of ourselves and each other, making non-hurried decisions, trying to be a little bit wiser than the usual: this is what the current moment expects us to do.
This is always true, but now more than ever. How can we adapt all of this to fashion and elegance?
Well, at Davide Cenci we’ve been trained to do that for nearly 100 years now, and the velvet single-breasted jacket with peak labels proves it.
It’s a timeless model that we tweaked a little bit by playing with its wearability with slightly softer shoulders and a slimmer waistline. As details matter, the jacket is enriched with mother of pearl buttons and five inner pockets lined with the same, original “fabric of the kings”.
THE ORIGINAL “FABRIC OF THE KINGS”: THE SMOOTH, PURE-COTTON VELVET.
It’s the smooth, pure-cotton velvet; its name originates from the Latin word vellus (“fleece”) because of its particular “hairy” cover. We showcase it in an original array of colors: from classical black and navy blue to vibrant burgundy and bottle green.
There are several ways to wear what has always been considered among the most precious and appreciated fabrics ever.
We propose two of them here: a formal look with a white shirt, a tie, and Prince-of-Wales flannel trousers; and a more casual combination with a pair of jeans and a silk/cashmere mock-neck pullover. The lace-up brogue shoes suit both outfits perfectly.
As we Italians say, “andiamo sul velluto”: we choose velvet to play it safe.
